That said, I actually liked today's strip. "You're a tool!" made me chuckle. I wonder if this will be a storyline about 4th ed D&D and the edition gap between gamers. One can hope, it's been awhile since we've had an arc that involved something nerdy.
Nerd fact of the day: My understanding is that power cards were pretty common in 2nd ed, mostly for spellcasters. And speaking from experience, whenever my friends and I were playing, anyone with a spellcaster usually had a notebook or something for their spells. It was just practical.
Nitpick 1: Without "3x5", Cole's dialogue flows a bit better in the first panel. I don't think it's necessary to specify the size of the index card.
Nitpick 2 : 4th panel, there should be a comma between roleplaying and you. "We're still roleplaying, you dork."

The thing that bothers me about today's comic is Francis's goatee. I've never liked it since the change, but today it looks especially like a weird growth. This is something that color would probably fix, but since we won't be getting that....
I like the strip as far as the joke and concept go, but the amount of dialog smushed into those tiny panels is giving me a little claustrophobia. There is an overwhelming lack of negative space.
"you're a tool" made kurtz chuckle. who knew.
i'm so sick of this hoax. why are you still trying?
I'm so sick of you dorks who fell hook line and sinker for a joke.
Why are you still commenting?
I will never admit that I am Scott Kurtz. NEVER!
Not even if each of you paypals me a shiny new twenty dollar bill.
No. Not even then.
This place sucks now. It was better before I knew that Scott Kurtz ran it.
It was an awesome run, Kurtz. But you blew it with that twitter. We see the man behind the curtain now.
Oh well...*sigh*
Wow that anonymus person sure thinks he is funny . . .
Anyway it was a good strip even though I am not a D&D player and can appreciate nerd arguments. the "you dork" part of the argument made me laugh just at the irony and the fact its been said in my life before. I agre itsa little wordy in a CAD way, but overall solid at like 7/10
I liked it! Don't be so hard on yourself. "You're a tool" definitely was the winning line. Keep it up, Kurtz!
Man, Scott and Kris came up with a better way of destroying this blog than I could ever have imagined.
To early to tell but I'm inclined to agree with that anonymoose.
I don't think this site would be any the worse for turning off anonymous commenting. You have the traffic FSM, and it's approaching mildly annoying.
What I find most suspect is that, despite the fact that FSM hardly has time to comment or write in his own blog, he manages to twitter his way into the joke between Scott and Kris within minutes of the whole thing.
A bit suspect, yes?
Yes, because Twittering takes so much effort.
it's funny to watch all the commenters help Kurtz try to cover this all up.
No, what we are doing is trying to get our community back to some place where we can discuss PvP. I mean, the site is still here and still critiquing the comic, so I want to continue doing what we were doing two days ago. And now it will be even better because we'll have M-F threads.
Does it really matter if FSM is Kurtz?
Let's say it is: He's giving you a site where you can anonymously post any shit you want about him! I mean, seriously, do you ever see any moderation of negative criticism around here.
And he basically can't come clean about it now anyway. Even Kurtz's own fanboi's were criticizing him for it on Halfpixel yesterday (thread has since been deleated).
So I say let the good times roll.
Kurtz making a dumb joke/remark that basically backfires and makes himself look dopey is in keeping with his past actions. Kurtz masterminding a troll for longer than anything but a day is not.
I don't find it suspect that FSM twittered "shit shit shit" soon after the thing between Kurtz and Straub. If he were Kurtz, trying to cover it up, why would he post something on an alternate account related to a post he was about to delete? It was obviously a joke.
