Double Feature

Sorry about the delay in commentary folks, been having some trouble getting the internet hooked up at my new place.

Register to Vote: Cole as the overbearing father-figure again, eh? Aside from his views on teen sex, Cole seems pretty liberal so no surprise that he'd be an Obama man. But the punchline fell flat for me. I think it would've worked better if we saw whatever face Cole was making in the last panel.

Writing nitpick: The exclamation in Cole's dialogue in panel 1 should come after kids, in my opinion.

Indecision '08: Jade seems to be wearing a t-shirt now..or it's just an art goof. Not a big deal, really.

Unlike "Register", I actually found the punchline to this funny. I like the different ways the two kids express their uncertainty.

Re: the t-shirt
Yeah, I mentioned that in the comments to the last post. I'm thinking since the neck is also bare that it's intentional. Unless he forgot to color in both...

And on a related note (voting) this is pretty good, and funny:

If we're going to be on the subject of the election for a while (I hope not, because I'm getting tired of hearing about it), I hope we don't miss out on this joke: Reggie shows up, because we haven't seen him for a while, and reveals he's voting for Obama. Someone (probably Brent) says "I hope you're not voting for him just because he's black." Reggie: "He's black?"

@ ethan

Holy shit. That made me laugh way harder than the past 10 PVP strips combined.

Bravo, sir. Please take Kurtz's place, please.

I KNEW IT! KURTZ IS IN THE TANK FOR OBAMA!!!

The kids expressions should of been diffrent in the latest strip. The girl should of been smacking her forehead and Francis should be more worried.

How come Marcy never talks? Has anybody else noticed this? Francis gets all the lines when they appear together, unless they're talking to one another (and even that's uncommon).

I can't believe that gun control is still an issue in the US. Register your guns! What's the big deal? You register cars, pets and marriages. Registration doesn't make it harder to get any of these items or services. Well, I guess it restricts how many marriages you can have at once, but c'mon.

@tim m

Because men are far superior to women, and should always speak for both parties when both are present.

Nope, that's not it - Jade talks all the time. This is a Marcy-specific problem.

That's because when Jade married Brent, they fused together into one person, and Jade assumed Brent's man identity.

Yeah I'm bored.

Late again.

Jesus Christ, just when I thought Kurtz had developed some courtesy towards his readers he goes on a late-spree.

People have different habits. One of mine is to spend the first half hour or so of my day catching up on various things around the web: blogs, news sites, webcomics, etc.

And while it ultimately isn't a big deal to not have one up at the top of the day, it's still disrespectful to his readers.

Maybe I should go back to being a weekly reader...

yeah Marcy's pretty inert in the last few comics... at least she got to laugh in thrusdays comic.

I think the problem is, this isn't a scenario that would have ever come up just between Cole and Marcy. She's sorta lumped in the Francis on this one.

Come on now, let's be considerate of Scott. Sure he's fallen back into the habit of late updates and working when he wants, but give him a break. He just finished a really tough con schedule by attending PAX and working at Baltimore. That takes a lot out of a person. And coming up with cliched or sexist punchlines requires deep thought and concentration. You can't do that kind of work while at a con.
